Erik Grönwall is new vocalist of H.e.a.t.!!!

Earlier this year popular hardrock-band H.e.a.t. that participated in Melodifestivalen-2009 with the song "1000 Miles" has announced that frontman Kenny Leckremo is leaving group because of problems with voice, moving to UK and therefore having no ability to be a part of H.e.a.t. However the rest of the band decided to move on and immediately started search for a new vocalist. What a huge surprise it was when today H.e.a.t. oficially announced winner of the last Idol season Erik Grönwall new vocalist of band! Erik turned be very successful Idol-winner, 6 of his live covers already got to singles-chart during his participation in Idol, debut covers-album released right after the final reached #1 of albums-chart and second album "Somewhere Between A Rock And A Hard Place" peaked at #2 so probably noone supposed Erik to join some band at least so fast. However both Erik and H.e.a.t. look very optimistic about their union and new H.e.a.t is ready for record of new album and new European and Japanese tour.

well i didn't expect that but i will certainly give it a go! It's the most amazing rock news since INXS recruited that JD guy as their new vocalist :)

I wonder how many schlager-fans started to speak about possibility to see this new union on next MF. It was good solution for both - Erik and H.e.a.t. Erik in my opninion extremely needed band behind him and H.e.a.t. were not afraid to look poppy after MF and got new huge part of audience so I'm completely for this.

Well not a surprise. HEAT failed to live up to the Melodifestivalen Hype post contest and was quickly forgotten afterwards...

And seriously. Eriks solo career flopped. His two singles from his first real album both underperformed, and so did the album. It only hit #2 and hasn't even got a certification. Also the tour was a flop both with public and critics.

I see your point JL and I'm completely with it about Erik and H.e.a.t. needing each other so much to move on successfully but I wouldn't completely agree about such a big flop of Erik if we would compare him with previous winners - Marie Picasso's second single completely failed, Kevin Borg's debut album reached only #3 and Markus Fagervall's secong album was only #11. So it could be much worse :)

Put me in the "surprised" category, too, but this could work really well. I agree with your first comment, Damian, about this being a good solution for the two, though. I hope the potential for this is lived up to.

Still...Kenny has NOT a voice problem

Really hope so but it was official reason.

Yes, PG, at least it's gonna give much more attention to their new album than it could give to just new Erik's or Heat's album. Not sure about further potential though.
